Sales Alert: Black Friday Preview

Details are being leaked about this year's Black Friday deals.  Target has a 30% off on five Lego sets sale.  They are listing 41126 Friends: Heartlake Riding Club, 21124 Minecraft: The End Portal, 76054 Batman: Harvest of Fear, 70626 Ninjago: Dawn of Iron Doom, and 75139 Star Wars: Battle on Takodana at $34.99.

Five Below is listing 2 for $5 Lego Dimensions Fun Packs on Saturday and Sunday.  Kinda surprised they have any left at this point.

Double Set Challenge, Revisit 3

Here we go for Round 3.  This edition starts with the Kylo Ren's Shuttle and the Ninjago Airboat polybags.

Here's a Frame  (2Rd+d8/2Y) and a Station.

Here's the leftover parts.

At $3.49 each, that's roughly $7.00 for a Frame and a Station.  Extrapolating that out, it's $21.00 for a Defender size Squad (3 units), $35.00 for an Attacker (5 units), and $49.00 for a Primary Attacker squad (7 units).  You also have plenty of leftover parts to convert into SSRs or other Attachments.

The next set of polybags I'm experimenting with is the Creator Turtle and the First Order Walker.

Once again, all three of these sets are currently available in stores.

Always of interest to the MFZ community is a way of storing the Lego we use in the game.  Tom Alphin has written a Lego Storage Guide for collections of all sizes.  At a quick skim, this is an in-depth guide that will be useful for a large cross-section of people.

The Road to PAX Unplugged

PAX Unplugged opens two weeks from toaday and I plan on being there to demo MFZ for the Indie Bazaar.  I know six people on the MFZ Facebook page and two people on the Hangar -- with one known cross-over name -- are planning on going.  There's a topic discussing it on the Hangar, so speak up if you're going to be there.  I know people are interested in a meet-up and I'm sure people would like to get a full game in while the crew is there.  Let's make this happen!

Double Set Challenge, Revisit 1

Over a year ago  I laid down some rules for the Double Set Challenge.  Recently I was preparing to dump and sort two polybags that I had reviewed.  I had the Creator Turtle and the Ninjago Airboat ready for sorting, then I looked at what I had built individually and figured I could do better if I combined the two.  The original DSC was meant to be two of the same set combined but, both of these sets are under the 50 pieces limit so it might be more interesting to try it this way.

The Turtle build was interesting, but a little small and without Attachments.  The Airboat build was cool but had an illegal connection.  Let's see what happens when combine the two.



Here's a Frame (2Rh+d8/2Rd+d8/2W) and a Station.  There's
a part of me that's tempted to build a squad of those Frames.
