Purity: Tenkai Knights 13003 Titan Valius Review

Continuing forward with the idea of doing reviews on multiple building block systems for Bricktober.

Box.  MSRP is unknown.  Walmart.com is selling it for $8.99 for a $0.26 Price per Piece.  I paid $3.00 for mine for a $0.09 Price per Piece.

Instructions.

Parts 1.

Parts 1.5.  These are
the cubes opened up.

Parts 2.  Plates, Tiles, Double Sided Plates,
Bar Plates, Slopes w/Studs, and a Clip Plate.

Parts 3.  Great accent pieces.

Build.  I made the set.

Size Comparison.  This thing is huge.

The Questions:
Can you build something -- a frame, station, or starship -- right away?  Maybe?  (0)
Is it below, at, or above the golden ratio?  Above.  (-10)  (The Golden Ratio is $0.10 per part.)
If you can't build a frame right away, or choose not to, does it have parts you should be able to put into use right away?  Yes.  (+5)
Does it have more than a handful of immediately useful parts?  No.  (-5)
Score: -10 (C+).  I've never been a fan of the Tenkai Knights sets.

Purity: 11002 Tenkai Knights Blastank/War Stallion Review

I came across this on Clearance at Target for $14.98 a few weeks ago so I decided to give Ionix another try.

Box.  Parts count is 148 pieces.  MSRP is $29.99 which yields a $0.20 price per piece.

Instructions & Stickers.

Tenkai Knight 1 Parts.  I like the shield and that Trans-Blue piece.  The 1x2 Plates are double studded and thinner than their Mega Bloks counterparts.

This is what he looks like assembled.

Tenkai Knight 2 Parts.  The guns look cool.

Here's what he looks like assembled.  I had to cant his torso back
severely just to get him to stand up straight while dual wielding.

Here's a comparison of the first one with a Classic.  As you can see they fit nicely at that scale.

Parts 1.  Wow, that is a lot of textured bricks.  The mold costs on those must be expensive.  The Trans-Red chains are nice.  They fit into Clip tiles.

Parts 2.  The tank treads.

Parts 3.  Missiles, Missile "launchers", and the main body brick.

Parts 4.  A lot of plates.

Parts 5.  Some basic bricks, more textured bricks, and a few modified bricks.

Parts 6.  Some brackets, clip plates, bar plates, and tiles, along with more double sided plates.

Parts 7.  More textured bricks, a couple slope bricks, and a few wedge plates.

Here's the main body opened up.

Here's the loaded missile "launcher".

The Questions:
Can you build a frame, or frames, right away?  Yes.  The figures definitely work for 4P scale.  (+5)
Yes.  (+5)
Score: B+ (+5).  That's a lot higher score than I expected.  I should still do a SSC from this to see what can really be built from the parts.

Purity: Tenkai Knights Blind Bag Review

I picked this up on a whim, hoping the price per piece would be something close to sane.

These retail for $2.99.  Which means the price per piece for this one was $1.00.

Instructions.
Yup, that's all the pieces in this one Tail, body, and head.  That's all you get.  I'll be able to use the head and tail but I have no idea how I'm going to use that brick.

Let's get a closer look at that brick.  I'll admit that it is an incredible piece of engineering.

Here it is all assembled.

The Questions:
Can you build a frame, or frames, right away?  The figure can be used as a 4P frame so, yes.  (+5)
Is it below, at, or above the golden ratio?  At retail price, above.  Way above.  (-10) (The Golden Ratio is $0.10 per part.)

If you can't build a frame right away, or choose not to, does it have parts you should be able to put into use right away?  Yes.  (+5)
Does it have more than a handful of immediately useful parts?  No.  (-5)
Score: -5 (B-).  Don't let the score fool you, these are horrible deals.
