Spotlight: František Hajdekr

I feature this gentleman's work all the time in my "Terrain & Scenery" posts so it only seems fitting I do a Spotlight post on more of his builds.

FH150034.  Let's jump into the wayback machine

for this one.  This build dates back to 2013.

British Rail Class 37 with Tank Car and Track.  I know

we have several train fans in the community so this is

for them.  :-)  I'm not sure at which scale this is built.

Double Decker Bus.  Another 4P scale build.  It'll take almost

10 Hits so it would have to be tweaked for use in MFZ.

Hot Rod.  There's a Nanofig included for scale but

I think this could work for Microfig scale too.

Main Battle Tank.  This final build is more along the

lines of what MFZ usually deals with and I'm sure

there are plenty of people that will want to copy this.

Spotlight: The Mugbearer

It's been three years since I've done a "Spotlight" post and it's high time for a new one.

The Mugbearer has been a member of the Mobile Frame Zero community since 2013, breaking in with the "Vandal" frame design.

Robot Power Loader.  Not specifically built for MFZ but I really like it anyway.

His Majesty's Steam Guard.  Another one not built for MFZ but I think a squad of these would look awesome on a table.

Cerebus Fighter.  This is for the MFZ spinoff Dogfight.

Military Grunt.  This one had a lot of influence on one of my builds.

# 16.  This was for the January 2021 edition of the MMMIG.

Spotlight: Ksenolog

It's been a while since I've done a Spotlight post.  It's also been a while since I've done an artwork inspiration post.  I'm combining the two today.

Ksenolog is an artist who posts to a daily tumblr site.  He tends to be a bit of a workaholic and he also tends to beat himself up about his artwork.  Honestly though, his artwork is fantastic.  Here's a few random selections to give you an idea.

That club is great.

I think I can make those legs in Lego.

I dig spears.

This one gives me ideas too.

I can see that gun existing in Lego.

Spotlight: Cole Blaq 2

Apparently Mr. Blaq has done more of these since I last blogged about them.  I'm going to retain the formatting from the last time to preserve a sense of continuity.

Titan FX.07.  The new Star Wars: Rebels lightsaber handle as a gun plus the robot head as an actual head are neat.

Titan FX.08.  Looks like another scout unit to me.

Titan FX.L.  An armored beetle.

Titan FX.10.  This looks like it could be a Rooftop Racer.

Titan FX.11.  The Necromancer's Crown from the Hobbit sets is a very nice touch.

Titan FX.12.  I think this is my favorite of the bunch, so organic looking, I'm reminded of the Alphas from Edge of Tomorrow.

There are more but I'll save those for an Intercept Orbit post as they're spaceships.  I look forward to seeing what else he builds for this series in the future.

Twanks for the Memories

I've talked about the "Budget Frame Propaganda War" before.  The centerpiece, and instigator of the whole thing, was the Twank frame by Atavism.  The discussion topic for which is slowly being brought to an end after 250+ replies and over 6K views.  What started out as a standard lookit-my-stuff topic evolved into an exercise in frame design and long form fiction.  It also became a sort of community rally point in the Budget Frame Propaganda War.

Do yourself a favor and read it all.  You might be able to pick up a few tips here and there.

Spotlight: Cole Blaq

This is a bit of a variation on my usual Spotlight post.  I'm just going to talk about some of Cole's recent creations.  All of these use a majority of the metallic shaded Lego pieces so therefore look very robotic in nature.  I was tempted to post them in numerical order, but I'm going to stick with chronological order.  Unfortunately he's disabled downloads so the pictures in this post are going to be a bit different than usual.

  Titan FX.05.  The start of this interesting series of builds.  What catches my eye is the inverted samurai helmet at the front of the torso.

 Titan FX.04.  A variant on the all popular Tachikoma design.

Titan FX.02.  The asymmetrical nature of the body makes this one a little more interesting than the others to me.

 Titan FX.03.  I know that is a collection of guns on the back but, this one looks like a repair bot to me.

Titan FX.06.  The sphere in the middle of the torso makes this one look like a spy bot.

  Titan FX.01.  This one's a slight bit different from the rest, using 3rd party parts and off color parts.  And maybe a bit more threatening.

 All in all a very interesting set of builds.

Spotlight: E-Duty

Eduty has been a member of the MFZ community for a while.  He works primarily in LDD, but has bricked up a fair amount of his designs.

OMF-G1.  He had a number of designs before this.  This, however, is the start of the OMF numbering and the beginning of his evolution.  From there he progresses rapidly.

OMNI Line-Up.  As you can see he's already

hit 22 variations by the time of this picture.

OMF-G26 S1 Annie.  This is the next important milestone.  This is where he starts listing the PaB costs for each of his designs.

OMF-G31 Trinity.  If you think all he does is bipedal mecha, guess again.

Spotlight: Tenor Penny

The emphasis in MFZ lately has been on Intercept Orbit.  This leads me to my latest Spotlight post.  I came across these while looking through Flickr.

Supply Run is the first thing that caught my
eye.  The brick-built asteroids are great.

The Type 77 Salvage Drone would make a great

 microscale frame for an IO Frame Company.

The DDC Ningyo looks to be about four studs too long, but you
might be able to cut it down to fit under the IO size limits.

The ISS Chiharu is also too long, but you should be

able to cut it down to fit under the IO size limits.

And there's lots more to see in his Flickr stream.  Hopefully this will inspire you in your Intercept Orbit builds.

Spotlight: Pierre E. Fiesche

This was originally going to be a "Terrain & Scenery" post.  Then I realized I had chosen all my photos from Pierre Fiesche.  Pierre has been around the Lego community for a while.  He's done a lot of very interesting microscale work as well as some very fascinating spaceships.

Tracer L.A.V. by Pierre E. Fiesche.  You can see the Minifig Trophy used as a scale marker.  Still, this looks as if it can be used at 7P scale.

Spade F.C.V. by Pierre E. Fiesche.  Similar design and size to the one above.

"Ox" Light Module Transport by Pierre E. Fiesche.  As you can see by the Tracer in the background, this is in the same scale as the other two vehicles.

GRUNT Light Assault Vehicle by Pierre E. Fiesche.  There's a lot of NPU in this picture.

All of these designs would make great terrain or stations.  You should check out the rest of his Flickr stream.  There's some fantastic work there.

Spotlight: Dukayn

This is another Spotlight post on one of my fellow admins over at the Mobile Frame Hangar.  He's done the images for the Frame Chef "competition" since it restarted in 2013.

Tomahawk by Dukayn.  This was his first non-copy design for MFZ.

He then moved on to a set of wallpapers.

A few more down the line is the Laggar.

Then the one that blew everyone's doors off, the Beamgun Commander.  It even exists in the brick.

The Laughing Storm is my favorite of his creations.

A few more down the line is this excellent diorama.

His latest work is the 133 Regional Defense Squad.

I've skipped a lot of his other works so be sure to check out his Flickr stream.  And did I mention he's also started making instruction PDFs?

Spotlight: darksyntax

This spotlight is going to be a little different from the others.  Darksyntax has taken to my Single Set Challenge like a duck to water.  It seems like he cranks out a new one every couple of weeks. 

Single Set Challenge: 75002.  A nice set of builds from a great Star Wars set.

Single Set Challenge: 6911.  A frame and a station from a small set.  Very nice.

Single Set Challenge: 40077.  At some point I will do a review of this TRU only set.

Single Set Challenge: 31005.  He hopped on this one after Gusindor posted his.

Single Set Challenge: 30240.  In my review I said that this set was only good for building a flying frame.  Darksyntax proves me wrong with this build.

Single Set Challenge: 30059.  Another polybag falls victim to darksyntax.

Single Set Challange:6177.  I've mentioned this one in a blog post before.

Spotlight: PasuKaru76

Pascal is a prolific and talented builder who's Flickr stream literally runs on for pages.  Let's look at some of his work.

COG.  The first creation of his that got my attention.  I built a pair of these myself.  They're very sturdy.  You could probably toss them against the wall without breaking them.

Grunt Mk.1/Mk.2.  His first attempt to create a "generic" frame similar to the Chub.

Groundhog.  The second of Pasukaru76's attempts at a "generic" frame.

Black Widow Company.  A bunch of Battletech mechs in microscale.  These are not his only ones.  Seek them out.

Shorty Mk.2  The third of Pasukaru76's "generic" frames.  MittenNinja built a squad of these recently.








Reinventing the Wheel.  A recent creation -- small, but full of personality.


You really should look through his photos, he has a lot more than just mecha.  He really needs to sort them better though.  Just sayin'.

Spotlight: Matt Bace

While trying to create a post about terrain and scenery pictures I stumbled across Matt Bace's Flickr stream.  He has a lot of "4 Wide" vehicles.  This scale seems to be a match for 7P as all the "people" in these pictures are seven plates tall.

Mini Logging Crew by Matt Bace.  I really like that "Caber Toss" vehicle.  Yes, I know that's not the real name for it.

Heavy Haulers by Matt Bace.  Yes, I'll admit it, I have a thing for big trucks.

Mini Farm Machines by Matt Bace.

Utility & DPW Crews by Matt Bace.  I know it's kinda silly but, the 7P people in this are what makes it for me.

Mini Inland Ferry by Matt Bace.  This is his biggest render.  It would make for a great centerpiece for a gaming table.






He also has a number of Cuusoo projects.  Instant MFZ terrain in a set, anyone?
