I really like the way this looks so far, so I'm going to stick with it and try and find a technique that will help me finish it.

Tablescrap 9 (Part 2)
I really liked the leg I built back in this post. I attached it to a torso section I copied from Pasukaru 76.
This is the front and back so far.
Here's what it looks like from the side. As you can see from the picture on the right, the front of the hips connect to the torso by one stud. Also, the way the torso is set up, there's a half stud offset that is preventing me from attaching the back of the hips.

Flickr Alternative
There is an alternative to Flickr. It's called ipernity. It has all the functionality of Flickr and it looks like Flickr used to, back before they started with that "justified" formatting. There are minor differences in the way ipernity does certain things, but it works okay. Right now I'm still navigating my way through and setting things up. The only problem I see at the moment is that there is a limited ability to share photos. I can understand Flickr's "share" ability being protected IP but people want post on more sites than FB, G+, and Twitter. Also, pictures seem to be saved as GIFs rather than JPEGs.
Okay, after a couple of days of prodding, it looks like embedding and downloading capabilities are hidden behind a paywall.
Here's my page. An ipernity exclusive photo!
Here's the MFZ group I started. Right now it's invitation only. I'm sure that'll change in the future.
Here's a general Lego group.
Go nuts. :-)

Tablescrap 7
This one's more an exercise in building than an attempt to make something viable.
I used the giant bionicle sword as the main body, to see if it could be done. I still want to add some sort of wings to the "T" pieces that comprise the shoulder area..
The "hands" also need work. While the translucent pieces would make nice gun blasts, they don't work for this design.

I'm posting this under the "Tablescrap" heading because it's not quite finished. But, honestly, I think this has gone way beyond a tablescrap.

TMOH: Block Chest Brigade
The Block Chest design started with this version.
I wasn't exactly happy with the way it looked and the one stud connection from the chest to the waist was way too fragile. I did like the way the legs looked though. So I worked a bit more and it became this.
It has the same essential shape, just smaller. He has a brother.
After a building spree I added a few more to the lineup and modified the Prototype into something I was happy with. Here's the squad together. (It's not the greatest of pictures.)
Here are a few specialized versions.
This is another picture of the first Block Chest mech in a more limber pose.
You can see it's a fun little frame that can be modified into multiple variants. I should have a few more pictures to share with you soon.

Another partial build for you to ruminate on.
Another variant on my faithful Crab Mecha. This time I'm thinking of using a different piece as the head and making the usual head piece into some sort of underslung "stinger".

Tablescrap 4
Here's a few shots of another project I'm working on. Hopefully I'll have it done by the time PAX East rolls around.

I've got a squad of my RE-4 frames sitting around without any weapons or other attachments. Time to kit them out.

Tablescraps II
Here's a couple of wing designs that I came up with a while back.
This is a standard looking design for wings.
This one, not so much.

New Squad
After I did a minor modification on the Heavy Walker Tank I realized the the coloring would fit right in with my Death Drones. Here's a picture of two of them together.
They look pretty good as a team so I'll be putting them together on a table sometime soon. At the moment I haven't changed the loadout of any of the units as they haven't been playtested as a squad.

Idea: The Five Deadly Venoms
Yeah, you read that right, the idea is to design a unit around the Five Deadly Venoms of kung fu movie fame.
For the in-game fiction, the Venoms will be the elite attack squad of "The Hive". They are as follows: Centipede, Snake, Scorpion, Lizard and Toad.Since all of the named "animals" are pretty quick, or have an interesting form of locomotion, all the builds will feature Movement attachments. Since they are also fairly maneuverable, they get a Defensive attachment as well.
Here's what I have so far.
Snake:

I'll have to make a new design for this idea.
Centipede:

I'll have to make a new design for this one too. It'll probably be a modified "Scorpion Crawler".
Scorpion:

This will be the "Scorpion Crawler" mech from the "Hive 1" picture in my Flickr stream.
Lizard:

This will be the "Scout Crawler" mech from the "Hive 1" picture in my Flickr stream.
Toad:

This will be a modified "Flea" mech from the "Hive 2" picture in my Flickr stream.
Snake and Scorpion get 2d6+1d8Rh because of the poison they both are known for. Lizard gets 2d6Rd because I'm kind of styling it after a chameleon, and it's Defensive attachment will be a "chameleon coating". It also gets 1d6Y for the ability to get outside the battle and observe. The Toad gets 2d6Rd for its "croak" -- some sort of sonic weapon, I'm thinking -- and a second d6B for extra armor. The Centipede seems fairly straightforward to me.
