Review: 41533 Mixels Globert

Let's finish up the Glowkies tribe and the week.

Parts.  We've got Mixel Joints, Bar Plates, Bar Claws, Slopes of multiple varieties, Tooth Plates, Clip Plates, Quarter Travises, funky Wings, a 4x4 Round Plate, a Glow-in-the-Dark Radar Dish, a 2x2 Round Tile, a couple of regular bricks, a 1x4 Plate, and one of the new 1x2-2x2 Brackets.  Some interesting parts, just not enough of any one thing.

Review: 41535 Mixels Boogly

Let's shake it up this review cycle and continue with the same tribe.

Instructions.

Parts.  There's not to much here.  A handful of Brackets, Mixel Joints, and Tooth Plates jump out at the start.  Lampholders, Clip Plates, and Bar Plates are next.  Then all the varieties of Slopes.  Those Spider Legs are interesting too.

Build.  I'm calling this the Spider Frigate, and I really like it.  Stats: 2Ra+d8/1Y/2W/1Gd8.

Review: 41534 Mixels Vampos

We start the Mixels Series 4 review cycle with one of the Glowkies tribe.

Bag.  MSRP is $4.99 for a Price per Piece of $0.09.

Instructions.

Parts.  We get our first Glow-in-the-Dark pieces with some of the Cheese Slopes in this set.  Plenty of Brackets and Mixel Joints too.  A new 1x2 Modified Plate w/Bar (closed, both ends) also makes its debut with this Series.  The 1x2 Modified Brick w/2 Side Studs and 1x1 Mod. Brick w/Bar (open ends) are also good parts.

Build.  I call this the Vampire Frigate.

It has plenty of attachment points.

Review: Gundam Converge Concept-X 6-1-2 Turn X (100)

Another review of a Gundam "model" kit.

Box.  I paid $5.95 for this at Barnes & Noble.  There were no instructions included.

Parts.  This is the bag right out of the box.

Parts.  This is the body of the model.  The arms and the head come off.  We are also provided with two different right hands and a blast effect.

Parts.  This is the backpack and weapons along with the base.

The model is a little shorter than a Chub.  Only the arms move so it really can't be posed all that well.  You can disassemble it if it takes fatal damage during a game though.  Only the left hand can hold weapons.  You could find ways to stat out some combination of 2Rd, 2Rh, 2Ra, 1B, and 1Y with the parts provided.  A single model costs less than a Chub from Mobilefra.me.  My usual rating system doesn't really work here so make of this what you will.

Lego Ideas 4

It's been a while so let's look at some Lego Ideas submissions.

Construction Vehicles by aleehc.  These would make for great terrain.  They look to be 4P scale.

International Acrobats by vindic8ed.  More excellent terrain.  Also looking like 4P scale.

Mini Wall-E by Archimedes Chen.  This looks like it'll have lots of interesting parts.  Thanks to +Kevin Henke for the heads up.

Ogre Mark V by GlenBricker.  Unfortunately this one's already expired.

Mini-Scale Super Cars by Modex222.  I'm always a sucker for a good car model.

Once again, I've backed all of these submissions.

Twanks for the Memories

I've talked about the "Budget Frame Propaganda War" before.  The centerpiece, and instigator of the whole thing, was the Twank frame by Atavism.  The discussion topic for which is slowly being brought to an end after 250+ replies and over 6K views.  What started out as a standard lookit-my-stuff topic evolved into an exercise in frame design and long form fiction.  It also became a sort of community rally point in the Budget Frame Propaganda War.

Do yourself a favor and read it all.  You might be able to pick up a few tips here and there.

Random Mechs 13

A Monday booster of mecha goodness..

Crimson M-2 by Jasro8.  It looks nice and solid
and it doesn't try to get too fancy.  Nicely done.

Explore Strange New Worlds by SweStar.  This is a neat

little diorama. The mecha designs are simple and clean.

Mecha Wars: Grievous MK1 by Grantmasters.  A blend of
old parts and new techniques to create a Star Wars character.

Das Mech Jäger - DMJ 2.2 by Chokolat Shadow!  This

is meant to be the pilot for a much larger mech but I think

it's interesting in and of itself.  It also carries a pilot!

Tau Fire Warrior Team by Garry_Rocks.  These are meant to be Warhammer 40K scale, but I think they might be good for MFZ.  Note: This is a render using parts colors that don't occur in real life.
