PAX East 2019

Tickets for PAX East 2019 have gone on sale.  As with last year the con is four days and the Saturday tickets have already sold out.  The dates are March 28th to March 31st.  I've started a topic on the Hangar for those who will be attending.

Survey Questions 2018

It's been three years since I last surveyed the demographics of the MFZ community and since we've had some influx of new blood I felt it time to do it again.  I'd appreciate it if you participated.

Survey Question 1 is about how much you get to play MFZ.

Survey Question 2 is about the length of time you've been a member of the community.
Survey Question 3 is about how old you are.

I'll be posting another question today (11/8) and another on Friday (11/9).  Once I feel the questions have had enough time to run their course I will publish the results here on my blog.

These questions are all completely anonymous.  No names are attached to any of the votes.

Review: 76061 Mighty Micros: Batman vs. Catwoman

We're at the midpoint of the week and continuing the DC Mighty Micros reviews.

Box.  MSRP is $9.99 for a $0.13 Price per Piece

Instructions and parts list.

Minifigs.

Parts 1.  Those 4x4 Frame pieces might be tough to work with.

Parts 2.  Those Printed
Slope pieces are cool.

Build.  2Rh+d8/1G+d8.

The Questions:
Can you build something -- a frame, station, or starship -- right away?  Yes.  (+5)
Is it below, at, or above the golden ratio?  Above.  (-10)
(The Golden Ratio is $0.10 per part.)
If you can't build a frame right away, or choose not to, does it have parts you should be able to put into use right away?  Yes.  (+5)
Does it have more than a handful of immediately useful parts?  Yes.  (+5)
Score: +5 (B+).  I had fun with the build but, not that great of a set.

Sales Alert

Target is having a 10% off Lego advent calendars sale this week.  That puts the City and Friends calendars at $0.09 and $0.05 per piece, respectively.  The Star Wars one is $0.12 per piece on sale.  The "Spend $50 or more get a $10 gift card on LEGO" promotion is still going on too.

Kohls has one Lego set, a few Mega Construx, and a bunch of Cobi sets on sale online.  Not sure what the brick & mortar retail situation is like.

Review: 76062 Mighty Micros: Robin vs. Bane

Last week I spent some time trying to organize the attic a bit and my backlog of Lego sets at the same time.  I came across my collection of Mighty Micros so I figured I'd do a week spotlighting them.  Well, the DC ones I have, at least.

Box.  MSRP is $9.99 for a $0.13 Price per Piece

Instructions and parts list.

Minifigs.

Parts 1.  Those new Axle Plates are going
to be interesting to work with.  I like the
Mudguards and the Printed Spoiler too.

Parts 2.  Clip Plates, Bar Plate, and
Minifig Torches all look good to me.

Build.  Frame and Station.

The Questions:

Score: +5 (B+).  Not bad, not great.

Starter Kit

The community talks a lot about starter kits for MFZ: Rapid Attack.  It's one of the few stumbling blocks for entry into the game.  I've finally decided to put my money where my mouth is and I've created one.

Flickr page.

These will be for sale at PAX Unplugged in a month.  As you can see there are five Generic Frames, three Stations, and a Ruler.  The Frames are all Soldier archetypes and have color coded Attachments.

I hope people like them, and I hope people will use them to get started with Mobile Frame Zero: Rapid attack.

Build. (2Rd+d8/2G)

The Questions:
