Review: 70629 Ninjago Movie Piranha Attack

This is outside my piece count limitation for Lego reviews but it's another new for 2018 set and it looks like it has some good colors and parts so I'm gonna give it a shot.

Box.  MSRP is $19.99 for a $0.09 Price per Piece.

Instructions & Stickers.

Minifigs.

Parts 1.  The Large Round Jumpers are neat, as are the Bar Bar Holders.

Parts 2.  The Bracket and the
Car Hoods are fun pieces.

Parts 3.  Some large Sand Blue pieces
here.  The 2x2 Round Bricks w/Pin
Holes are cool.  As is the Offset 1x4.

Parts 4.  More Sand Blue.  Rocket
Fins, Technic Bits, and 2x2
Tiles w/Center Hole are good.

Parts 5.  Apollo Studs, Large Round
Jumpers, Inverted Studless Slopes,
Barraki Eyes, and more Sand Blue.

Build.  A quick Frame and two,
one Hit pieces of Cover.

The Questions:
Can you build something -- a frame, station, or starship -- right away?  Yes.  (+5)
Is it below, at, or above the golden ratio?  Below.  (+5)  (The Golden Ratio is $0.10 per part.)
If you can't build a frame right away, or choose not to, does it have parts you should be able to put into use right away?  Yes.  (+5)
Does it have more than a handful of immediately useful parts?  Yes.  (+5)
Score: +20 (A+).  I'm sure a better builder could wring something more interesting from this set.

Review: 5009416 Kai's Pod Polybag

This was a "free" giveaway this week with $30 Lego purchase at Toys'R'Us.

Bag.  MSRP is $5.99 for this at Toys'R'Us which gives us a $0.17 Price per Piece.

Instructions.

Minifig.

Pod, Outside.  It's slightly under seven Bricks tall.

Pod, Inside.  Laying flat, it's two Bricks tall.  You can attach five Bricks inside to make it a one-shot piece of Cover.

Parts.  Plates, Tiles, Brackets, Cheese Slopes, Grille Tiles, Apollo Studs, Clip Tiles, Clip Plate, and Minifig Sai and Katana.

Build. Nothing.

The Questions:
Can you build something -- a frame, station, or starship -- right away?  No.  (-5)
Is it below, at, or above the golden ratio?  Above.  (-10)  (The Golden Ratio is $0.10 per part.)
If you can't build a frame right away, or choose not to, does it have parts you should be able to put into use right away?  Yes.  (+5)
Does it have more than a handful of immediately useful parts?  No.  (-5)
Score: -15 (C).  One of the worst scoring sets I've ever reviewed.

Review: 30428 Green Ninja Mech Dragon Polybag

This is another recent release that's currently a Lego Store "free giveaway" exclusive

Bag.  I'm guessing MSRP will be $3.99 for this which equates to a $0.07 Price per Piece.

Instructions.

Parts.  Sand Green parts, Padlocks, Technic Pin/Ball Joints, regular Ball Joints, Inverted 1x2 Studless Slopes, Lampholders, and Clip Plates.  I'm not sure if this is better or just as good as the Quake Mech polybag.

Build.  Building the set
again because I like it.

Size Comparison.  Tall,
but not too wide.

The Questions:
Can you build something -- a frame, station, or starship -- right away?  Yes.  (+5)
Is it below, at, or above the golden ratio?  Below.  (+5)
(The Golden Ratio is $0.10 per part.)
If you can't build a frame right away, or choose not to, does it have parts you should be able to put into use right away?  Yes.  (+5)
Does it have more than a handful of immediately useful parts?  Yes.  (+5)
Score: +20 (A+).  Another good set.

Review: 30379 Ninjago Movie Quake Mech Polybag

This is a recent release that's currently a Walmart exclusive.  A fair amount of people in the community have been chomping at the bit to get their hands on these sets.

Bag.  I paid $3.97 for this which equates to a $0.06 Price per Piece.

Instructions.

Parts.  Look at all of those Apollo Studs!  A Brown Travis Brick, those Bar Ball Joints in Dark Bley, two different sizes of Dishes, Bar Plates, Skeleton Arms, Black Ingots, Clip Plates, a Motor Brick, Bucket Handles, a Trans-Clear Round 1x1 Brick, a Trans-Clear 1x2 Tile, a Black Lightsaber Blade, Female Ball Joint Plates, Cheese Slopes, Bricks, and Plates.  This set is a smorgasbord of usefulness.

Build.  I went with the set build to see if it really was a Frame-in-a-Bag.

Size Comparison.  As you can see, it should fit in really well on the game table.

This one hits it out of the park.

Review: 30427 Ninjago Movie Ice Tank Polybag

I finally tracked this down at Target.  It was in the Lego aisle but others have found them in the checkout aisles.

Bag.  MSRP is $3.99 which is a Price per Piece of $0.06.

Instructions.

Parts 1.  Taps, Inverted Studless Slopes, the Chima Gun, Lampholders, Clip Plates, Bar Plates, Brackets, Gears, and Plates w/Pin Hole (bottom) are all fun bits.

Parts 2.  New Space Torches are nice.

Build.  A combat monster 2Rd+d8/2Rh+d8/2W.

The tank treads inflate the parts count.  Without them this would be have a +15 (A) score.
