Review: 41532 Mixels Burnard

Wrapping up the Infernites tribe and the Series 4 Mixels.

Bag.  MSRP is $4.99 for a $0.09 Price per Piece.

Instructions.

Parts.  We've got quite the smorgasbord here.  A Lightsaber Blade/Bar in black, a giant flame piece, another new Clip Tile, plenty of Slope pieces, some 1x4 Hinge Plates, a couple brackets, a few Apollo Studs, some Barbs, a couple Technic Ball eyes, a couple of my favorite piece, a Jumper Plate, several Clip Plates a few Tooth Plates, a Bar Plate, Mixel Joints, a Hinge Cylinder, and a Hinge Plate.  The only pieces I'm not sure what to do with are the 2x2 Dome Bottoms.

Build.  Another T.U.R.D. Bot variation!

The Questions:
Can you build something -- a frame, station, or starship -- right away?  Yes.  (+5)
Is it below, at, or above the golden ratio?  Below.  (+5)

(The Golden Ratio is $0.10 per part.)
If you can't build a frame right away, or choose not to, does it have parts you should be able to put into use right away?  Yes.  (+5)
Does it have more than a handful of immediately useful parts?  Yes.  (+5)
Score: +20 (A+).  It looks like the Infernites were the winning tribe from this series.

Review: 41530 Mixels Meltus

Over the hump and into the home stretch, here's another Series 4 review for you.

Bag.  MSRP is $4.99 for a $0.08 Price per Piece.

Instructions.

Parts.  An abundance of regular Plates in this set.  Plenty of Jumper Plates and five other types of Modified Plates too.  Once again we've got a lot of different Slope pieces.  The 1x2 Hinge Bricks are good, as is the 1x2 Modified Brick w/Studs on 2 Sides, and the Mudguards are fun too. Only a few Mixel Joints though.

Build.  This one involved some interesting parts choices to build
the arms.  I see the big eye as
a sensor dome with the cockpit underneath in the central body.

The Infernites tribe continues with another max score.

Review: 41531 Mixels Flamzer

Heading into the home stretch, let's start the third tribe from Mixels Series 4.

Bag.  MSRP is $4.99 for a $0.08 Price per Piece.

Instructions.

Parts.  First thing I notice is the three new 1x2 Modified Plates w/Bars (both ends, closed).  That Tile Clip in the center of the picture is one of the new ones.  Other than that there's plenty of Slopes, Brackets, and Clip Plates.  The 1x4 Bricks w/Horizontal Groove are interesting too.  Not that many Mixel Joints though.

Build.  I'm calling this the
Bull Centaur.  Taurusaur?

The Questions:
Can you build something -- a frame, station, or starship -- right away?
Yes.  (+5)
Is it below, at, or above the golden ratio?  Below.  (+5)
(The Golden Ratio is $0.10 per part.)
If you can't build a frame right away, or choose not to, does it have parts you should be able to put into use right away?  Yes.  (+5)
Does it have more than a handful of immediately useful parts?  Yes.  (+5)
Score: +20 (A+).  Back on top with another max score.

Review: 41529 Mixels Nurp-Naut

Let's wrap up the Orbitons, shell we?

Bag.  MSRP of $4.99 gets us a $0.10 Price per Piece.

Instructions.

Parts.  Plenty of Brackets, Clip Plates, and Cheese Slopes.  Only a few of everything else though.  The 2x2 Double Convex Slopes are pretty interesting as are the Technic Bricks w/Axle Hole.

Build.  Another IO Frigate.

The Questions:
Can you build something -- a frame, station, or starship -- right away?  Yes.  (+5)
Is it below, at, or above the golden ratio?  At.  (0)
(The Golden Ratio is $0.10 per part.)
If you can't build a frame right away, or choose not to, does it have parts you should be able to put into use right away?  Yes.  (+5)
Does it have more than a handful of immediately useful parts?  Yes.  (+5)
Score: +15 (A).  A tiny bit disappointing after the last two from this series.

Review: 41527 Rockit

Number two of the Orbitons Mixels.

Bag.  MSRP of $4.99 gets us a $0.08 Price per Piece.

Instructions.

Parts.  Plenty of Slopes, Mixel Joints, Tooth Plates, and Brackets.  A couple of taps, Lampholders, Clip Plates, Quarter Travises, 1x1 Vert. Bar Bricks, Robot Arms, and Minifig Heads.  I'm not sure how much use the 4x4 Trans-Black Dome is going to be though.

Build.  I managed two out of this.  A 4P Frame and a small IO Frigate.

The Questions:
Can you build something -- a frame, station, or starship -- right away?  Yes.  (+5)
Is it below, at, or above the golden ratio?  Below.  (+5)

Score: +20 (A+).  .

Review: 41528 Mixels Niksput

Not the one I had intended on starting with, but it was the first one I grabbed out of the bag.

Bag.  MSRP is $4.99 for a $0.08 Price per Piece.

Instructions.

Parts.  Plenty of Mixel Joints, oohh Lime 1x1 Round Tiles, a few Tooth Plates, a couple of Quarter Travis bricks, some Grille Tiles, my second fave part 2x1 Mod. Plate w/Bar (open ends), plenty of Slopes in five different varieties, a Tail Fin, a Clear 2x2 Dome, a Fire Piece, some Tiles and Plates, a White Mod. Plate 2x2x2/3 w/2 Studs on Side, and a Bar Holder w/Clip all look good.

Build.  This set gets you roughly
50% of the way towards building
one of my T.U.R.D. Bots.

Hey!  Back on the right track.  I think I'm going to run out and buy a bunch more of these.

Review: 41533 Mixels Globert

Let's finish up the Glowkies tribe and the week.

Bag.  MSRP is $4.99 for a $0.11 Price per Piece.

Instructions.

Parts.  We've got Mixel Joints, Bar Plates, Bar Claws, Slopes of multiple varieties, Tooth Plates, Clip Plates, Quarter Travises, funky Wings, a 4x4 Round Plate, a Glow-in-the-Dark Radar Dish, a 2x2 Round Tile, a couple of regular bricks, a 1x4 Plate, and one of the new 1x2-2x2 Brackets.  Some interesting parts, just not enough of any one thing.

Top View

Build.  This is an IO Frigate that
I bashed out in 5 minutes while I
was working on this review.  This
was a desperation build and involves
some "illegal" connections.

The Questions:
Angle View

Is it below, at, or above the golden ratio?  Above.  (-10)

(The Golden Ratio is $0.10 per part.)

Review: 41535 Mixels Boogly

Let's shake it up this review cycle and continue with the same tribe.

Bag.  MSRP of $4.99 gets us a $0.10 Price per Piece.

Instructions.

Parts.  There's not to much here.  A handful of Brackets, Mixel Joints, and Tooth Plates jump out at the start.  Lampholders, Clip Plates, and Bar Plates are next.  Then all the varieties of Slopes.  Those Spider Legs are interesting too.

Build.  I'm calling this the Spider Frigate, and I really like it.  Stats: 2Ra+d8/1Y/2W/1Gd8.

The Questions:
Can you build something -- a frame, station, or starship -- right away?  Yes.  (+5)
Is it below, at, or above the golden ratio?  At.  (0)

If you can't build a frame right away, or choose not to, does it have parts you should be able to put into use right away?  Yes.  (+5)
Does it have more than a handful of immediately useful parts?  Yes.  (+5)
Score: +15 (A).  Wow, it's been a while since we've had a Mixel score anything less than the max.

It has plenty of attachment points.
