Here's several aftermath pictures.
Thoughts & Observations:
  • I didn't take the notes for this game.
  • Making sense of Tom's chicken-scratch writing was difficult.
  • In fact, I gave up trying to translate it.
  • From everything I heard, this was a really fun game.

Plates, some Slopes, Tires, Rims, Jumpers,
a single Technic Brick, a Lever & Base, a
Radar Dish, a Minifig Handlebar, an Axle
Plate, a Technic Pin, and a Wheel Holder.

Build.  An IO Frigate or HVA.  Rubbish, really.

The Questions:
Can you build something -- a frame, station, or starship -- right away?  No.  (-5)
Is it below, at, or above the golden ratio?  Above.  (-10)  (The Golden Ratio is $0.10 per part.)
If you can't build a frame right away, or choose not to, does it have parts you should be able to put into use right away?  Yes.  (+5)
Does it have more than a handful of immediately useful parts?  Yes.  (+5)
Score: -5 (B-).  Not really much of a set.

Review: Gundam Converge MA-04X Zakrello (97)

I wasn't anticipating making a Gundam Converge review for a while but I grabbed this last Sunday at one of the TRUs near me.

Box.  MSRP was $5.99 at Toys'R'Us, but I only paid $2.99 for it.

Parts.

Disassembled.  The blades could be Melee or Spotting.  The flight stand is obviously Movement.  The arms pop off for White die damage.

Assembled.

Size Comparison.

The Questions:
Is it below, at, or above $10 per Frame?  Below.  (+5)

Is it a good size to use in a game?  Yes.  It looks about the same size as a Classic.  (+5)
How many parts does it have to represent systems?  Three.  (0)
Does it have enough parts you can remove to represent White Dice damage?  Yes.  (+5)
Score: +15 (A).  It's not a bad mecha, just a little limited in its choices for Attachments.

6th Anniversary

So it turns out that this past Saturday was the sixth anniversary of the first post for this blog.  This makes 970 posts and I still have things to say.  Also, I've calculated I'll hit my 1,000th post sometime in the last week of May.  Woof.  That's a lot of talk about a game about Lego mecha.  Thanks for listening.

This is what the table looked like at the start of the game.

Events of Turn 1 (DDC @ 11): Pete's Blue frame hits Narbey's White frame for 1.  Narbey's Orange frame hits my White frame for 2.  My Blue frame moves forward and hits Narbey's White frame for 1.  Narbey's Red frame hits Pete's Yellow frame for 2.  Pete's Orange frame destroys Narbey's Red frame with 6 damage and seizes the Station it was guarding.  Narbey's Green frame hits my Blue frame for 5.

Events of Turn 4 (DDC @ 1):  (At this point it was late and I got a little sloppy with the note taking.)  Pete's Orange frame destroys Narbey's Orange frame and seizes the Station it was guarding.  Pete's Red frame seizes my Red Station, which it had been slowly creeping up on for three turns.  The Doomsday Clock is ticked to zero.

Me: 24 points.
Pete: 24 points.
Narbey: 14 points.

Here's an aftermath picture.

Thoughts & Observations:
  • This was Pete's first game in a year and a half.
  • This was the debut of the Oasis table setting.
  • I need a little more terrain for this setting.  The table was a little sparse.
  • We also tried out a new rule with the exploding fuel dump.
  • The edges of the green felt I cut for the oasis section didn't look that great.
  • We were going to have the convoy progress across the table but we forgot to move it after the first turn.
  • We had at least three people knock on the windows and ask what we were doing.

make a good IO ship.

The Questions:

Is it below, at, or above the golden ratio?  Below.  (+5)  (The Golden Ratio is $0.10 per part.)

Does it have more than a handful of immediately useful parts?  Yes.  (+5)
