Purity: A4912/A3245 Construction Site Smash Review

The main problem with Kre-O, at least from my viewpoint, is that the sets are expensive.  Transformers, G.I. Joe, Star Trek, and Battleship are all licensed sets and therefore have a premium attached to them beyond the cost of the pieces.  Now there's a new line, called Cityville, and it's affordable.

This is a review of one of the smaller sets.  It cost $8.99 at Toys'R'Us for 104 pieces.

Here's the box.

The instructions and sticker sheet.

Here are the larger parts in the set.  The two half-spheres at the top of the picture are a left and right pair, unlike the Lego version.  The 2x2 Plate w/Bar (Open Ends) looks interesting.  I'm unsure of what I'm going to do with those wheel pieces.

These are the smaller pieces.  I've already stated my preference for the "mecha claw" pieces at the top left edge of the picture.  Further down on the left side, those double-mini claws have already been put into use.  The Modified Plate to the right of those claws could make for the grille on a microscale car.  Looks like Hasbro wasted no time copying the new Lego mini-brackets.  The 2x2 Round Plates w Hole are intriguing.  We also have a bunch of parts I've mentioned before.

Now here's the really interesting part.  These figures look to be a cross between Lego microfigs and minifigs.  Weird, hunh?

Now for the questions.
Can you build a frame, or frames, right away?  Looks like I could build one of my Spider Mecha from this set.  (+5)
Is it below, at, or above the golden ratio?  Below ($0.09 per part).  (+5)
If you don't want build a frame right away, does it have parts you should be able to put into use elsewhere?  Yes.  (+5)
Does it have more than a handful of immediately useful parts?  Yes.  (+5)

This yields a score of +20 or A+.  Winner, winner, chicken dinner!

  1. Honestly i'm really excited for these sets, the minifigs (despite the cartoonish proportions) are within scale, and as result, a lot of the vehicles are too, which allows for battlefield dress up and cover building. Glad to hear a positive review from you as well!
